FEBRUARY MEANS LOVE. AND A PRICE INCREASE.

Want to show your valentine how you really feel? Sign them up for 2026 Wilderness Traverse AND save some cash doing it. That sounds like love to us. Registration for 2026 Wilderness Traverse is open, and this Thursday night, early pricing ends, so this would be a good time to show the love and get signed up. Be a part of Canada's classic adventure race at Lion's Camp Dorset on September 26-27, 2026.

WHO DOESN'T LOVE AN ORIGIN STORY

Like any great Marvel hero, we all want to know the origin story - how that journey to greatness began. At WT2025 in Sudbury, Brian Gatens had a chance to hear how it all began thanks to OG WT racers Leanne Mueller and Pete Cameron. The right person, the right time, with the right encouragement and a classic Canadian adventure race was born.

ARE YOU READY? WE CAN HELP.

Our AR training camp weekend is back for 2026! Spend a weekend learning & racing with our own Bob Miller & Team Canada Adventure, with discussions, workshops and on-course experience. Whether looking for AR fundamentals for your first race, or an experienced team leveling up to overnight or expedition racing, we can help. April 24-26 at YMCA Camp Pinecrest in Torrance, Ontario.

Is it right for you? Don't take it from us - hear it from some 2025 participants and please reach out with questions:

"Great course and a great time. I'll be back" - Jamie Schaack

"Absolutely worth it and you should do it...learned so much" - Andrei Neagoie

"This was an awesome weekend last year. What can be better than an AR summer (spring) camp with Bob Miller and Scott Ford!" - John Price

PLANNING FOR WT? START WITH STORM!

As you build your season towards WT in late September, be sure to get some early-season reps in at our Storm Adventure Race. This is a fun race weekend with something for everyone: the advanced course for teams wanting to push hard, while the shorter courses are perfect for families and beginners. Why not split your teams and invite some new racers to try the sport?

For 2026, we're returning May 23 & 24 to Albion Hills Conservation Area just north of Bolton. Registration is now open at stormrace.ca.

AR JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

We're excited to see some young adventure racers from the WT community already preregistered for the Junior Adventure Racing World Championship, coming next July in Temiscamingue, Quebec. Teams of 2 preregister in either U18 and U25 divisions and may be selected by CARA as Team Canada or as an open team. This is the LAST CALL for preregistration so put up your hand now!

NEW GLOBAL RACE CLASSIFICATIONS

The International Adventure Racing Association (IARA) has developed a global race classification system to help racers easily understand different kinds of events, similar to other sports. Under this system, Wilderness Traverse is an Endurance race (12 to 48 hrs; Introduction to overnight racing. Focus shifts to sleep management, night navigation, and endurance consistency) and we've included the badge on our EVENT DETAILS page. You can LEARN MORE on the IARA website.

SHARE THE LOVE

It's Valentine's week! There are lots of examples of couples successfully adventure racing together as teammates. We also know there are couples whose racing together didn't go as well. And there are couples who are happy because they chose to NOT race together.

Whatever works, we wish all the partners, teammates and everyone in between, Happy Valentine's Day! Wishing you warmer adventures ahead. As always, follow us on social and if you've got questions, get in touch.

- The Wilderness Traverse Team

VOLUNTEERS: IT DOESN'T HAPPEN WITHOUT THEM!

The amazing Wilderness Traverse volunteers always bring a “whatever you need” attitude. In 2025 when we needed a French speaker to go on province-wide radio to talk about the race on a very busy race morning, logistics superstar Jacques Albert pulled the gear truck over to do his first-ever radio interview. WT doesn’t happen without help from our many volunteers! Want to join us in September for WT2026 as a volunteer? Get in touch.
