Mid Pack Conga!
Our mid-pack is well into the paddle leg. Those headwinds the earlier teams faced (and pushed through) should have died down with the setting of the sun, but these teams face dropping temperatures and sleep monsters. Paddling at night is one of the toughest to keep the eye-balls open. Such a soothing, lulling motion - paddle, paddle, paddle... zzzzzzzzz.... tip "I'm awake!" (and... repeat).
There's a TON of potential movement through the middle parts of the face - the teams that can keep those peepers open, their minds sharp and keep a solid paddle rhythm going will likely see themselves passing a few teams through the paddle. The portages might also prove to be a place where teams can gain some ground. Trekking at night (portage or in the woods) can be very hard to keep up you speed, so teams might not realize their pace has dropped, allowing other teams to catch them.
We'll be excited to keep an eye on how things shift in this group as we expect a lot to happen. We also expect the conga line to break up once they get off the paddle and onto the trek.
Here's the view at 20:42 of those that are past CP9, but not yet at TA3.
