Mid Pack Conga!
Our mid-pack is well into the paddle leg. Those headwinds the earlier teams faced (and pushed through) should have died down with the setting of the sun, but these teams face dropping temperatures and sleep monsters. Paddling at night is one of the toughest to keep the eye-balls open. Such a soothing, lulling motion - paddle, paddle, paddle... zzzzzzzzz.... tip "I'm awake!" (and... repeat). There's a TON of potential movement through the middle parts of the face - the teams t

Front Runners
We have our top teams coming into TA3 where they'll transition from paddle to trek. There's a distinct gap near the front, but there's still lots of time for things to shift as teams head back out on foot. In the dark (what was it we said about night nav?). Here's where things stood at 20:26 at the front of the race! Mercators AR and Peninsula Mountain Bike Club are VERY close and I'm sure they can see the headlamps of the other team from time to time, keeping the pressure hi

Dot Watching - Ruh Roh... again! Teams 26 and 53
It seems that this particular part of the bike leg has been a little bit of a tricky spot for a few teams! Teams 26 - Night Walkers, and Team 53 - W.I.L.D have ended up off course in the same place 2 and 44 did a little while ago! With night having descended, figuring out where they are and getting themselves back on track will be trickier than it was for our earlier teams. Team 26 is still on the 'larger' road having stayed on this to their current tracker position, but Team
Warm drinks and warmer welcomes
The veteran volunteers at remote CP9 (Boundary Lake) include experienced racers who know the value of a warm drink and always haul out supplies for coffee and soup. They paddle and portage their way out and make sure there's always something available to teams when they arrive. Being remote, they couldn't send us photos, but we were told that the 'cafe at CP9 has been hoppin'. As teams continue through the CP and the temperature drops, we expect that warm cuppa will be a welc

Night time comes... and with it...
Navigating by map and compass alone is tough. It's tough during the day. At night? It gets so much harder. The visual cues navigators typically rely on become unavailable - being able to see where that cliff ends, how long the lake is, if you're on the first or second ridge. You suddenly have to rely on your compass bearings almost entirely, choosing routes based on distinct and (hopefully) unmissable handrails, and looking at the dark against dark horizon to gauge where you

Meet our All Male Teams
We've got a very strong field of all male teams for WT 2026 including veteran racers, combined veteran-rookie teams and junior teams (teams with at least one person under 18 years of age). 3 – Beowulf From: Collingwood, Ontario Profile: Beowulf brings more than 70 years of combined adventure-racing experience to the start line. Jamie navigates while apparently losing things, Eddie stays happy even when he isn’t, and Tom is the person everyone attaches the tow rope to. They’re

Race Update - All Teams Through TA1
It's always a milestone in the race when all teams have made it through a TA and we have confirmed that all teams are through TA1. This means all teams that are continuing are off the trek and moved onto the bike leg! Here's a photo of our amazing TA1 volunteers and the last remaining racer. Thanks for being out there!

Dot Watching - Ruh Roh - Teams 2 & 44
Teams 2 and 44 have taken a detour on the first bike leg. Team 2 seems to have figured out their error before getting too far and are already headed back to the route they wanted (red line) - their detour is roughly outlined in light blue. Team 44 have taken an extra long detour and seems to have tried out a few potential routes while they worked to re-find themselves on the map. Their approximate side-quest route is showsn in dark blue/purple. They tried door # 1 (southwest

Race Update - Female Teams
Now that we've introduced them, let's take a quick look at where they're at, whose leading and get some predictions going! Les Folles Alliées (34) are firmly in the lead as of 16:50, but Grit & Giggles (33) are on the bike as well and might be able to make that gap get a little smaller as the race progresses. Mud Sweat & Beers (35) were at or about to head into TA1 and hike the bike section when we grabbed our status update. The real question is where are The Breakfast Club (

Meet our All-Female Teams
Our female field has veteran WT racers and some pretty amazing fresh adventure racers coming in with solid wilderness experience, so we're feeling pretty excited to watch this group. We'll be sure to do a little dot watching on this race within the race. 33 – Les Folles Alliées From: Québec (Montréal and Magog) Team Profile: Les folles alliées are a four-woman team from Montréal and Magog taking on Wilderness Traverse with a blend of navigation, strength and experience.
